Understanding WHMIS

Program Overview

In this comprehensive workshop, you will have an opportunity to see and discuss how Canada’s requirements for workplace chemicals are updated as the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) is incorporated into WHMIS.

We will be delivering this program on September 3, 2019.

 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the changes made to WHMIS
  • Understand the differences between WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015
  • Know how to read and understand the SDS (Safety Data Sheet)
  • Know the location of the SDS sheets in your workplace 
  • Be able to identify a supplier label and make a workplace label
  • Be aware of any hazards in their workplace and know how to handle them safely
  • Be able to identify the basic principles of emergency planning

Managers, Supervisors, Workers, and… anyone else who works in proximity to Hazardous Products in the workplace.

 

Your Instructor

Mr. Tracey Thibeau, CSS

Tracey worked as a Lead Cargo Agent for Air Canada and for 17 of those years he was a Dangerous Goods Acceptance Specialist.

For over 18 years, Tracey has been delivering courses for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, Water and Ground. During that time Tracey owned a company, Corridor Safety Training Consultants that provided training for transporting dangerous goods for all three (3) modes of transport. Tracey has delivered courses for IATA for the transport of dangerous goods by air for Infectious Substance in Montreal, Miami, Arkansas, Michigan and Geneva. (WHO). Tracey also facilitated Dangerous Goods Initial and Recurrent courses globally.

Tracey is Danatec’s Senior Safety Consultant and training instructor for the transportation of dangerous goods by Air, Water and Ground various parts of Canada and USA. Tracey also oversees and delivers all Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) training in Canada. .

Cost of learning event: $149.00

Cancellation Policy

JM Consulting reserves the right to postpone a learning event no later than seven days before the course start date. If the course is cancelled, a full refund will be issued. JM Consulting is not responsible for travel arrangements and accommodation costs that have been incurred without a confirmation that the course is taking place.

Anyone wishing to withdraw from an event must provide notification in writing to the above-mentioned email address. Refunds will be calculated as follows:

  • More than 10 business days prior to the course start date: a full refund minus a $50 administration fee
  • Between 1-9 days prior to the course start date: a 50% refund minus a $50 administration fee
  • Within 24 hours of the start date of the course: no refund will be provided

“No Shows” are not subject to refunds.
